East West Medical College & Hospital in Uttara, Dhaka

East-West Medical College & Hospital is a vigorous, best eminence clinical academic institute in the country. The  institute is situated at Aichi Nagar, JBCS Saroni, Khairtak, Turag, Dhaka,  Bangladesh. It is situated at the bank of river Turag with natural flourishing surroundings and  five kilometers away from Hazrat Shah Jalal International airport. The college is to provide on excellent broad based  education with a focus on professional development for the students to equip them with knowledge, skills and attitude necessary not only to address the priority health problems of the community but also to acquire  a firm basis for future training and studies. 


Alim Mia

Late Abdul Alim Mia (1926-1979) in memories

Abdul Alim Mia, a well known philanthropist, was born in Nagarkanda, Faridpur in 1926. He completed his Matriculation form Nagarkanda High School and he obtained Diploma on Health Science in the year 1948. He was one of the honorable members of Governing body of Nagarkanda High School for long time and he was well renowned for his contributions towards society as a social worker. He spent his whole life to serve the humanity and under privileged people. Moreover, his active role as freedom fighter in the liberation war of  Bangladesh in 1971 is  un-deniable. He was blessed with six sons and two daughters and among them Dr. Md. Moazzem Hossain, Founder Chairman of Alim Foundation, is his second  son. He died in 1979.

We remember Our Glory is dedicated to Late Kaniz Tania Sweety (1970-2009)

We remember Kaniz Tania Sweety was one of our founder Director of Alim Foundation and Managing Director of East-West Medical College. She was born in July 01, 1970 and completed  her graduation from Home Economics College, Dhaka in 1990 & then married to Dr. Md. Moazzem Hossain and went to Nagoya, Japan for higher study on Hospital Management. She was also the founder Director of Aichi Hospital, Uttara & spent her whole life to serve the poor and distressed people. She worked as an architect to build up East-West Medical College & Hospital. She  as blessed with one daughter Tasnim Alim Akemi & one son Siam Alim. Suddenly, she died in July 16, 2009.

East-West Medical College & Hospital has been established under the trustee board of ‘Alim Foundation’ as an institute offering Medical education, health care services to contribute to the growing need of the country. The institute is situated at Aichi Nagar, JBCS Saroni, Khairtak, Turag, Dhaka, Bangladesh. It is situated at the bank of river Turag with natural flourishing surroundings and five kilometers away from Hazrat Shah Jalal International airport.

The academic and Hospital building of the institute is built on its own land having modern classrooms, lecture galleries, practical class rooms, departmental museums, library, reading rooms and teachers corner etc. It also accommodates a cafeteria, a Mosque and separate common rooms for male and female students having facilities for indoor and outdoor games. There are separated hostels for boys and girls containing 600 seats consist of 375 seats for female and 225 seats for male.

The college is affiliated with Dhaka University and approved by the government of the people’s republic of Bangladesh. It is also recognized by the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BM&DC) as well as World Health Organization (WHO), included in International Medical education directory (IMED) - Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education and Research (FAIMER).

Basic Medical subjects such as Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Community Medicine, Forensic Medicine, Pathology, Microbiology, Pharmacology and Clinical subjects such as Medicine including Pediatrics, Psychiatry and Dermatology, Surgery including Ophthalmology, ENT, Orthopedics & Gynecology and obstetrics are taught during five years MBBS course. The college has satisfied and maintained all the criteria set by the affiliating and approving authority regarding the quality and quantity of teachers. The teachers and the administration are much more caring and pay due concentration to all the needs of the students so that the students create the environment of encouraging and homely. The trustee board of Alim Foundation and the Governing body keep constant vigilance on the development of the college as evidenced by its uplift.

The college has admitted 10th batch of students since its inauguration. 4 batches of MBBS students have already been completed their MBBS course and serving as efficient registered doctor in the National and International health sectors.


The aim of the Medical College is to teach the selected Students for five academic years for MBBS degree to credit high quality and dedicated doctors for the country Who can serve the population as per need? Introduction to newly designed community Oriented medical and dental education including MBBS course. To arrange training course for the young doctors & other staffs.
To provide post graduate training and research leading to qualified post graduate doctors.
To meet the responsibilities of providing preventive as well as curative health care to the peoples of Bangladesh.

To inspire and develop the essential character qualities

strong sense of human rights and a basic desire to serve the suffering humanity.

To accept foreign students, thus earning foreign currency for the country. To conduct refresher courses in different discipline for General practitioners. To conduct Camp in the remote areas of Bangladesh
